I really haven’t so much had time to speak on the weblog half as much as I’d planned, owing to all the time I have been dealing with Dad fuel his super nutball midlife crisis. True, some would argue it isn’t as far gone as it might be. How it went, I mean the way he played it out was he got all done up like the Fonz, and drop by to my house and proclaim to me, in his jazziest tone of voice: “Come on in, dude, you and I are going to be shopping for some classic Mustang sales. No joke, dude, it’s about time I buy an old school muscle car.”
Next thing I know him and me were on our way to all of those wild vintage car sales lots that I’m always pretty much sure are not quite on the up and up, and I stare in wonder the crazy old guy cut a check right there on the spot, for an alarmingly gleaming classic Ford automobile. I mean, it really is quite car. It sounded really nice too.
Notice that I wrote that last sentence in the past tense. It sounded perfect until it seized up completely. The old man maintains that it is just a easy fix and he just needs the right part. Of course, it may not be as painless to get your hands on classic Ford Mustang parts as it was over a million years ago, but my Dad tells me there’s a really sizable market for them still. It seems like the nicest way to buy parts for 1966 Mustangs is actually web auctions, since you can find them refurbished and often better than new. They’re only sometimes super-cheap, however… Get real, we’re talking about half-century old Mustang parts.
Not as bad as some midlife crises, I suppose. He might have decided to buy a harley.
