I do not believe I must tell anybody that this economy is tough and many folks have been having a verydifficult time. I lost my job about four months back when the facility where I was employed closed down 2 of their production lines and my bro in law, Barney got his final notice last month when his company commented they were closing the doors completely.
Both of us had spent a fair amount of time and energyattempting to find new jobs but with no success. However, we were clear on the fact that we still required revenue to pay our bills and support our families so Barney and I determined to go into business for ourselves.
We had no clear idea on what this business would be as my only real ability and experience was in manufacturing washing machines and Barney had worked as a QC inspector at a candy company. However, my young neighbor convinced us that rap music, rappers and that hip hop lifestyle was the freshest expansion trend in our country today. Now I must admit that both Barney and I agree the entire’rapper scene’ is just plain dumb but if it earns money then who are we to argue.
Somehow we decided to go after the jewelry segment of the hip hop market with the plan that we could start off rather small and just offer our stuff for sale at flea markets till we could afford to open a real store. So, our next task was to find a wholesale bling bling outlet.
We quickly discovered that we had a major problem in that we used to be a new business with no track record and no credit score which meant that no-one would sell us any inventory except for money. They were all extremely mannered to assure us that credit terms would be possible after we were established but it was all going to be COD at the start. We started scrambling then to find a guaranteed fast cash loan.
Well, we finally got our funding together. Not particularly as much as we wanted but enough to at least buy some starter inventory and get the project rolling and we had also found some promising wholesale outlets that we believed we could deal comfortably with. However, none of these wholesale sellers was in out city so we were going to require to travel which meant making airline and hotel reservations.
Getting the airline reservations was very easy and most of the hotels now subscribe to some kind of online booking software that made dealing with them also pretty simple.
