A book stand is a great gift idea for every true lover of books. Currently tendered types range from straight forward wire creations like the Fold’N'Stow that supports a book at variable angles on virtually any flat surface, to the ultimately sophisticated LEVO Bookholder which embraces a book in either a floor standing model or a clamp-on model that easily clamps to just about any table, desk, or counter top. Many book stand designs function well with hard cover books, but most also can work quite well with paperback books when they are mounted within book holders such as an OpenPage.
The Fold’N'Stow is among the least expensive of book stands. It folds flat for easy storage and transport and is sold with it’s own plastic pouch designed for use in a 3 ring binder. It can be positioned on a countertop for cookbooks, or the top of any desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page keepers extend out from the back plane to secure the covers and open pages of your book, and, by adjusting how far apart the arms are, smaller and larger books may be readily accommodated. The back plane also has horizontal pieces that can be raised or lowered to adjust the angle at which the book is held relative to the surface upon which it is resting.
The LEVO’s most popular book stand is the LEVO floor stand model, which features a weighted base on casters for ease of movement just about anywhere. Wherever you choose to put it, it will support in just about any position. Incorporating a bookboard which can be moved into virtually any position, and combined with a book mounting system that will hold your book or other reading material, even in an inverted position, the LEVO allows for totally hand-free reading just about anywhere.
The LEVO Clamp On design is just as handy as the LEVO Floor Model, but features a clamp that firmly attaches to just about any countertop, workbench, desk, table or other flat surface up to 2 inches thick, and offers the same movements as the floor model, without the degree of vertical telescoping movements. By keeping your reading materials above the surface to which it is attached, the desk model saves the weight and expense of the rolling base while conserving work space, since your book doesn’t rest on the surface.
Even though there are other book stand designs currently available, the Fold’N'Stow and LEVO book stands have withstood the test of time and stand up well to constant use.
